The Themes and Our Values

The themes of Venture for Hope are grounded in the values of The Foundation for Inspiring Hopefulness. Our Foundation is shaped by four pathways: education, mentorship, lived experience, and the gift of presence. Through this event, we hope to platform the pathways of education and mentorship by giving participants the opportunity to learn deeply, present meaningfully, and grow through connection with the wider community.

Because of that, the event welcomes topics that help people better understand the realities, strengths, and responsibilities of the Ummah. These themes can include stories of faith and resilience, humanitarian issues affecting the Ummah, identity, belonging, and heritage, social challenges facing Muslim communities, Islamic values in responding to injustice, youth issues and community responsibility, lived experiences that offer lessons for others, awareness topics that need stronger public understanding, local community issues and advocacy, and moral, spiritual, or social questions that deserve thoughtful discussion.

At the heart of all this, we hope each Researcher, Advocate, and Change Maker brings forward work that is rooted in hope, guided by Islam, and directed toward meaningful community benefit.

Discovery Stream

The Discovery Stream is for participants who want to research an issue, explore a topic, and share what they have learned in a clear and engaging way. This stream is ideal for those who want to build awareness through knowledge, helping others better understand important social, cultural, or humanitarian issues through thoughtful research, presentation, and communication.

Advocacy Stream

The Advocacy Stream is for participants who want to speak up about an issue that matters and help others understand why it deserves attention. Whether rooted in personal reflection, community experience, or broader humanitarian concern, this stream is about becoming a stronger communicator who can use their voice responsibly to inform, move, and inspire others toward greater awareness and care.

Venture Impact Stream

The Venture Impact Stream is for participants who want to go beyond awareness and bring forward an idea that can lead to real action. This stream is for people who are ready to think like a change maker and approach a community issue with an entrepreneurial mindset. It is not only about identifying a problem. It is about thinking through a solution, building a plan, and showing how that idea could realistically make a difference.

This stream is a good fit for participants who have a project, initiative, service, event concept, campaign, or community resource they want to develop with intention. A strong Venture Impact submission should show more than passion alone. It should show structure, direction, and a clear sense of how the idea could be carried out. The goal is to put forward something that has the potential to create greater local impact in the greater Edmonton area and respond to a real need in a thoughtful way.

Examples of Venture Impact projects could include creating a community family tree project that helps preserve local history and connections, organizing a public cultural exhibition that introduces a specific community or demographic to the wider Edmonton public, producing a mini-documentary or media project that highlights an important issue affecting the Ummah, launching a youth mentorship or educational workshop series that addresses a clear need in the community, or building a community resource initiative that helps people access support, information, or services more effectively. The Venture Impact Stream is meant for people who are ready to think practically as well as creatively. It rewards participants who can combine vision with responsibility and purpose with planning. For anyone who wants to move from concern to action and from ideas to implementation, this stream offers a space to present something meaningful, realistic, and worth building.
